Elvis Lobo Independent album release

“Elvis, wake us up when November comes”

On the anticipated arrival of Lead Guitarist; Elvis Lobo’s first Independently released album, MDT spends some few moments in the life of Elvis. Being one of Goa’s most sought after talent, Elvis Lobo surely is a busy guy, from gigs to recording sessions and of course to the lifestyle of all creative musicians, MDT finally got an interview. We sure did ask allot of questions about the making of his expected album to be released in November 2012.

Although Elvis has been part of many collaborated album releases, this is his first independent album and it features an array of home bred and international talent, bringing together an ambient/electro/fusion ethnic psy-rock sound. Interestingly enough, the album will surely kick ass as it features guitarists such as Shayne Ballantyne (S.E.T) and Mr. Arjun Sen (HFT) and Electronic gods Tomo and Digital Samsara. The 8 Track album will also consists of 3 vocal tracks that are inclined to a classical ethnic influence. The vocals included in the tracks are Attila, Praveen and Nidi and one track recorded in Swahili representing the African folk music. The album is a very eclectic of many cultures that represent their individual music. Evils explains how Goa is the perfect platform for cultures to intermingle and bring together their music to amalgamate it into one united global sound. “Goa offers a lot, in we have access to expertise in many fields and the musical community here is tight, we all help each other out when it comes to asking for advice and opinions”.

The Album is still in the making and Elvis exclaims “ Everything is almost ready, its eighty percent done, I just need to finish a few more tracks, once its done I’d like to find sponsorship for the album launch” Elvis also explains to how recording this album has kept him very busy as much of his time is spent traveling to recording studios around Goa. “I’ve recorded in Arambol, Siolim and Assagao, part of the tracks are produced at home and whatever is live has been recorded in the studios…when the album is complete, the mastering will be done in Europe and then its ready”. When asked what Elvis would call his tracks and album, he grins and says, “I have not even thought about Track or album names yet, let see”. This makes it even more exciting as we know he is working on it, we know its going to sound awesome and still we remain in anticipation of the album title and exact release date to which makes us want to have it in our hands even more.

MDT asks Elvis of his expectations form this album and he replies “its all about spreading the love, spreading the music” Elvis Lobo also says how the internet is a perfect tool for getting your music heard globally. He aspires to use this tool to promote his music for ears globally and hopes to travel the world with his music. Finally, Evils explains that this is his first album recording and has learnt a lot in terms of collaborating with other musicians, merging ideas and producing a final product as a collective effort, he says “ Recording is a totally different scene from live, its trippy to hear what you have recorded over and over, and from this new ideas come about…I have enjoyed making this album, it is great recording with others, I have never done this before, I have recorded for some people but never for myself, it’s a new experience creating a song with others, I love it”

And on that note, Evils, is one of the luckiest guys in the planet, as he just loves what he does. Be sure to follow Elvis on FB and on www.goabackstage.com for album release updates.
